What is Therapy?
Therapy plays a crucial role in addressing substance misuse and mental health challenges by providing specialized support tailored to the complex needs of individuals grappling with these issues. For those struggling with substance misuse, therapy helps to uncover the underlying emotional and psychological factors that contribute to addiction, offering strategies for managing cravings, avoiding triggers, and building healthier coping mechanisms. Through various evidence-based treatments, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing, individuals can gain insight into their behaviors, develop relapse prevention plans, and work towards long-term recovery. Therapy also provides a non-judgmental environment where individuals can explore the impact of their substance use on their lives and relationships, fostering a sense of accountability and motivation for change.
